Navigating Winter Break

I don’t know about everyone else out there, but I am SUPER psyched for winter break. This has been a long semester and I could really use some time to sit back, relax and do nothing. That being said, I’m also a little wary. Like most independent minded 20-somethings, I’ve adjusted to living in my own space with my own schedule, and going home for the short break is always a quick learning curve in meshing lifestyles. My guess is I’m not alone in this so, whether this is your first year going home after being away for a semester or your 5th, it can be tricky each time none-the-less.

There is something that can make this transition smoother and help everyone enjoy some much needed holiday rest…. Communication!  Talk to your parents. What do they expect from you? What are your expectations? Having a conversation about these things can help you reach a compromise and avoid tension later on. Oh, and don’t forget a little bit of patience. There will undoubtedly be frustrating moments. Just remember, this is your break, and stressing out is not going to get you the relaxation you needed and deserve!

That being said, here at CWS we’re all off to our respective holiday destinations!

Wishing everyone happy, enjoyable break and we’ll see you in 2012!
